What Aspen Is
Aspen is alkylate petrol — a synthetically produced fuel refined from a much narrower slice of the barrel than ordinary pump gasoline. What gets left out is the point: benzene and the aromatic hydrocarbons behind the fumes, the olefins that form smog, and the ethanol that pulls water into your fuel and turns a stored can into a service call. What is left runs cleaner, stores for years, and is markedly easier on the person holding the machine.
Two Engineered Fuels
Two-Stroke, Premixed
Alkylate petrol premixed with fully synthetic, biodegradable two-stroke oil — no measuring, no mixing, no guessing at ratios on the tailgate. Built for chainsaws, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, cut-off saws, and the rest of the hand-held fleet.
Four-Stroke
Straight alkylate petrol with no oil premixed, for four-stroke engines that take their oil separately. Mowers, tillers, pressure washers, compactors, and standby generators that need to start reliably after months in the shed.

Why Aspen
Ordinary gasoline carries benzene, a known carcinogen, plus aromatic hydrocarbons that cause headaches and nausea over a shift. Aspen is virtually free of all of it — which matters most for the people running trimmers and saws all day.
A cleaner burn means cleaner spark plugs, cleaner combustion chambers, and less carbon build-up. Leave it in the tank over the off-season and the fuel system will not gum up on you.
Low in the olefins that form ground-level ozone, and the synthetic oil premixed into Aspen 2 is biodegradable and largely renewable in origin.
Ethanol-free, so no water absorption and no phase separation in the can. Buy it in quantity ahead of the season without worrying about what you are pouring in come spring.

Who It's For
Aspen has become the default across BC for fire departments and municipal crews, where a rescue saw sitting in a bay for eight months still has to fire on the first pull. The same argument holds for landscaping and grounds crews, forestry and utility right-of-way contractors, parks departments, and any shop where staff spend the day inside the exhaust of a two-stroke engine.
The Story
Roland Elmäng founded Aspen in 1988 on the shore of Lake Aspen, north of Gothenburg in Sweden, after reading a piece in the Swedish forestry magazine Skogen about what chainsaw and brushcutter exhaust was doing to the people breathing it all day.
His conclusion was that the fuel itself was the problem, and that a cleaner one could be made. Alkylate petrol transformed working conditions for Swedish forestry crews, and the formula has been refined for more than thirty-five years since.
